Starfruit is doing interesting work with mixed reality. The Electric Sheep Company was fortunate enough to be involved in creating their island and their TowerTalk — a scripted tower that shows messages sent via SMS to the tower’s number. They also have a free SMS service from SL to RL cell phones that you can access from one of their freely available phonebooths.

What I find most exciting is their virtual/real gift service! Buy someone virtual flowers or candy from Starfruit Island. The recipient can then enter his or her real life information on the Starfruit website to have real flowers or candy delivered to their home. Privacy is guaranteed so the lucky recipient need not fear about giving real life information to the gift giver.

Satchmo sent Digi a virtual bouquet this morning I’ll update with a pic of the RL flowers when they arrive!

Satchmo Prototype sent me this winter outfit by Vint Falken as a gift this morning, which was a very nice surprise. The outfit has a second retro-style shirt and the pants come with or without snowflakes. I love outfits that come with lots of layers and remix possibilities
